Worm Composting Project

 

What are 2nd Graders doing with worms?

 

Each Fall, our second graders launch a worm composting project. We share what we know, ask questions, investigate, record observations, and build a cozy home for the worms right here in our classroom!  Throughout the year, students monitor the worms and bring in their biodegradable trash on "Worm Wednesdays" to feed them. By Spring, we have wonderful worm compost that we use for planting in our vegetable garden right here at McKinley-Thatcher!
